Reiki

Reiki is a method of natural healing based on the use of Universal Life Force Energy transmitted through the light touch of an attuned practitioner. The body is not only nourished by food, water and air but also by “Life Force Energy” that flows through and around it. If this flow is blocked due to thoughts, emotions or experiences, Reiki can help release the blockages. Therefore it encourages healing on physical, emotional and spiritual levels.
Benefits Include:

  • Pain relief
  • Stress reduction and emotional release (releasing of anger, fear, & worry)
  • Deep relaxation
  • Improve concentration and mental clarity
  • Boost physical or mental energy
  • Achieve and maintain balance
  • Enhance energy & radiant glow
  • Improve sleep
  • Relief of aches, stiffness and tension
  • Reduce nausea and other side effects of treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy

Energy work is a “layering of the hands” technique that channels life force energy, also known as chi, ki or prana according to different healing traditions. These energy work modalities relieve energy blockages and imbalances, which are believed to be the underlying causes of disease, and thus restore balance and support healing and well being.

What is a session like?  You simply lay, fully clothed on the massage table, while the therapist gently lays their hands on you in various positions transmitting Reiki energy through their hands into you.

What is a distance Healing Reiki Session? Distance healing or distant Reiki, can be sent remotely to you or someone you love.  There is no time nor space restrictions to distant Reiki.  Healing can be sent to any place in the world, and to a different time.  Anyone can benefit from Reiki healing – You don’t have to be ill or severly injured to benefit from Reiki energy. Reiki goes where it’s most needed and rebalances you.  You can request healing on behalf of someone else with their permission as well.

Athletic Therapy

With my previous background in Exercise Physiology, Performance Enhancement, and Corrective Exercise, I use this knowledge in human movement to help clients experiencing pain, decrease in range of motion, and performance issues by getting to the ‘root’ cause of the problem in order to help make a shift.

Crossfit
Being an avid crossfit athlete I understand what the body endures during these intense workouts. Recovery is essential! This includes mobility of the soft tissues through myofascial release, athletic massage, and focused stretching to keep chronically stressed tissue nice and pliable.
I do postural and movement assessments of each athlete to determine a personalized self-treatment plan for these athletes in order to improve performance and keep the athlete PAIN FREE!

Golf & Tennis
I have trained and worked with several Pro and Amature golf athletes ranging from 14-90!
A golf swing can produce thousands of pounds of force moving through your spine and body. Any part of the kinetic chain (bones, joints, muscles, and fascia tissue) that is restricted can put significant force on joints causing pain and decreasing optimal swing mechanics.

Cranial Sacral Fascial Therapy

I am trained in Cranial Sacral Fascial Therapy for Children & Adults.  The Gillespie Approach specifically revolves around the evaluation and treatment of the patient’s craniosacral fascial system. This system has three important aspects: craniosacral, fascial, and oropharyngeal.

What is Cranial Sacral Fascial Therapy?

Dr. Barry Gillespie discovered the Craniosacral Fascial System, which consists of a slight motion of the brain and spinal cord pumping cerebrospinal fluid into the fascial web that connects every structural cell of the body. When physical and/or emotional traumas adversely tighten this freely moving system, tremendous pressure can be exerted on associated nerves, muscles, organs, blood vessels, lymph vessels, and bones. Profound effects on body function may result as a major cause of the conditions listed below.

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy is a very gentle, natural bodywork that may produce powerful therapeutic effects. It can be corrective because it deals with the root of the problem.

The brain has an inherent motion that expands and contracts. Cerebrospinal fluid flows from the brain down the spine to the sacrum and into the connective tissue (fascia) in the body. It helps nourish the body and cleanse toxins. When the craniosacral system is loose and open, it allows for the optimal flow of fluid.

Traumas starting from birth are accumulated and can restrict brain motion creating tightness and stored toxins in the body resulting in physical problems. As the craniosacral system and fascial restrictions in the body begin to loosen, relief may be experienced.

What kind of conditions benefit from CFT treatments?

There is a long list of conditions that have shown improvement thru CFT. Often, a benefit comes that was not anticipated. The intention of the session is to release tightness…never to “cure” the condition. Here are some conditions that may benefit once craniosacral system is opened.

What kind of trauma causes the tightness?

Trauma can begin at birth. This is why it is so important for newborns to be assessed and adjusted. As we live our lives, we accumulate layers of trauma.

Here are a few examples of trauma:

  • Neck/Back Pain
  • Concussion Symptoms
  • Shoulder Issues
  • Acid Reflux
  • Migraines/Headaches
  • ADD/ADHD
  • TMJ
  • Scoliosis
  • Sinus Issues
  • Sleep Issues
  • Anxiety
  • Bed Wetting
  • Difficult Birth Surgery
  • Vaccination Shots
  • Auto Accidents
  • Dental/Orthodontics Falls
  • Emotional Trauma

Visceral Manipulation

What is Visceral Manipulation?
Viscera’ relates to the internal organs of the body, such as the liver, kidneys and intestines. Visceral Manipulation (VM) is a gentle manual therapy that aids your body’s ability to release restrictions and unhealthy compensations that cause pain or dysfunction, but evaluates the entire body to find the source of the problem. VM therapy re-establishes the body’s ability to adapt and restore itself to health.

What does it Feel Like?
VM is soft, hands-on manual therapy. Underneath the pain or diagnosis is a compensatory pattern created in the body with the initial source of dysfunction often being far from where the pain is felt. The treatment it a gentle compression, mobilization and elongation of the soft tissues. As the source of the problem is released, the symptoms will start to decrease.

Emotions are Stored in the Organs
It is well documented that our emotions have a great impact on how our body functions, and this is greatly due to how receptive organs are to our feelings. Different emotions affect different organs. Emotional reactions can translate into simple spasms in the gallbladder or heartburn, vomiting, feeling faint, ulcers, and serious diseases. When the brain receives negative emotions it sends tension to the related organ, the organ then sends tension back to the brain resulting in a viscous cycle. Conversely, a physically damaged or imbalanced organ can stimulate emotional upset. VM can break this cycle, enhance the health of the organ, and restore emotional balance.

How do Organs Contribute to Pain and Dysfunction?
Your body is made up of many interrelated components- bones, muscles, nerves, and a 3-D web of fascia throughout our entire system, as well as internal organs (viscera). Your organs are in perpetual motion. When you breathe, walk and stretch, your organs move in your chest and abdomen. For example, when you take a breath, your kidneys move one inch; and with a deep inhalation, they move 4 inches. In a day, they move over ½ a mile. That’s around 19,000 miles in a lifetime.

This movement of organs is transmitted through fascia and other structures of the body. When you are healthy, all the structures move with fluidity. This movement is important as it influences activities throughout the body from the tiniest cellular pulsations to rhythmic contractions of the heart and blood flow. Optimum health relies on this harmonious relationship.

Organs lose mobility due to physical trauma, surgery, lifestyle, infection, pollution, diet, posture, and pregnancy. When an organ is restricted and fixed to another structure, the body is forced to compensate. This creates abnormal points of tension and chronic irritation gives way to functional and structural problems throughout the body.

Imagine scar tissue around the lungs. Every breath requires movement but the scar tissue alters the normal pattern. This could shift rib movement creating pulls on the spine resulting in mid-back and neck pain, and limit shoulder movement.

Benefits:

  • Whiplash and seatbelt injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Spinal dysfunction
  • Lower back pain and sciatica
  • Carpal tunnel
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Joint pain
  • Digestive disorders
  • Acid reflux
  • Post-operative scar tissue pain
  • Women’s & men’s health issues
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Anxiety, depression, & anger

Scar Release Therapy

Scar Therapy helps your body heal from injuries and surgical procedures in various ways:

  • Reduces swelling, tightness and numbing
  • Increases mobility and decreases the restrictions
  • Improves general overall tissue function
  • Helps restore natural appearance
  • Fast, painless and permanent
  • Physician recommended

Producing scar tissue is a normal part of our body’s response to trauma. The problem is that the substance which mends also leaves behind tension, restriction and disorganization.

As scar tissue matures, it begins to pull and drag on surrounding areas. Fortunately, there is a solution to avoiding complications by intervening with Scar Integration Therapy. Whether your scar is 4 weeks old or 40 years old, results can be achieved using these gentle techniques.
